Integrity & Compliance.

A company can only be successful if it acts with integrity and stands by its voluntary undertakings and ethical principles, even when this is the harder choice. Acting with integrity, compliance and honesty is an essential prerequisite for the success of the Volkswagen Group and must be a matter of course for all employees.

Aligned with the Group Strategy of NEW AUTO - Mobility for Generations to Come, Volkswagen Group South Africa has set the key objective of being a role model in the areas of integrity and compliance. To achieve this key objective, Volkswagen has launched one of the largest strategic programmes of transformation in the Group’s history, the Together4Integrity (T4I) programme.

Compliance with national laws and regulations, company directives and voluntary commitments is one of our Company’s most important principles. We continuously strive to strengthen the trust of our customers, business partners and other stakeholders by treating everyone fairly and upholding the value of integrity in everything that we do.

The Code of Conduct is a common set of guidelines for all employees in the Volkswagen Group. It helps in complying with existing rules and regulations and offers guidance, advice and support in everyday work situations and decision-making.

The focus is on the responsibility of each individual employee to comply with the rules of ethical conduct.

Whistleblowing system.

Complying with statutory regulations and internal rules has top priority at Volkswagen. We can only avoid damage to our company, our employees and business partners if rules and standards are respected. Consequently, misconduct must be recognized swiftly, processed and immediately remedied.

That calls for vigilance on the part of everyone along with a willingness to draw attention to possible Serious Regulatory Violations on the basis of Reasonable Suspicion. We also value information of this nature from business partners, customers and other third parties. Reports to the Investigation Office can be made at any time.

The Whistleblower System guarantees the greatest possible protection for whistleblowers and Persons Implicated. An investigation is only initiated after very careful examination of the facts and Reasonable Suspicion of a Regulatory Violation. There will be strict confidentiality and secrecy throughout the investigative process. Information will be reviewed fairly, promptly and in a sensitive manner.

The Volkswagen Group embraces the challenges of climate change and its commitment to the two degree target of the United Nations. We recognise the global environmental and societal impacts of our products and we are committed to minimising our impact with methods that are socially responsible, scientifically based and financially prudent. Our TOGETHER 2025+ Group strategy establishes the targets of becoming a “worldleading provider of sustainable mobility” and simultaneously serving as a “role model when it comes to the environment”.

As part of this strategic journey, we have revised this Group Policy 17 to be implemented by all Volkswagen Group companies as we further evolve our efforts to demonstrate our global environmental leadership, strengthen our compliance and foster consistency in how we accomplish this goal.

This Group Policy defines environmental and compliance requirements, deliverables and accountabilities. It represents a culture and commitment, demands from every employee to do the right thing, and requires each of us, in particular our leadership, to demonstrate environmental and compliance priorities in words and in actions.
