COVID-19 Volkswagen Lockdown Arrangements

Dear valued Volkswagen customers,

South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, provided a detailed framework with regards to South Africa's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and as such instituted a 21-day nationwide lockdown.

In effort to support the President's call and bolster efforts to flatten the COVID-19 curve, please take note of the following arrangements during the 21 day lockdown (Friday, 27 March - Friday, 17 April):

  • No private vehicle sales and servicing will take place at Volkswagen dealerships. All Volkswagen dealerships will be closed during the lockdown period except those that will be on standby to assist with essential services, such as roadside assistance and repairing of emergency vehicles.
  • As an essential service, roadside assistance will continue to operate. This will be done remotely and at a reduced capacity. In the event of a breakdown, technicians will not be dispatched for on-site assistance, but will be available for telephonic advice regarding fuel, battery or tyre changes. In the event of towing, privatelyowned vehicles will be towed directly to the customer's home or to one of the dealerships that will be on standby accept towed-in vehicles.   • The Customer Interaction Centre (CIC) will be also be available to assist with queries sent through Volkswagen South Africa's various social media platforms, at a limited capacity.
