Passat Safety
Every Passat comes with six airbags, including front, side and curtain airbags, as well as seatbelt pretensioners. With a 5-star Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) rating, other safety features include active front head rests, height-adjustable safety belts, and ISOFIX preparation for two child seats. Of course, it wouldn't be a Volkswagen without ABS, EBD, and new ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) with trailer stabilisation.
Going the distance also means knowing when to keep yours, and adaptive cruise control (ACC) has radar sensors that allow the new Passat to brake automatically to maintain a defined safety distance from the vehicle in front. When safe to do so, the new Passat will accelerate back to the preset speed. A braking system with 16-inch ventilated discs makes use of integrated disc wipers that shorten the braking distance by periodically wiping away any water that may have built up on the discs.
