Volkswagen Alert

A Volkswagen Alert Caddy
Flat tyre? Flat battery?
Locked your keys in the car?
Never fear - Volkswagen Alert is here to help.

The Alert/Alert Plus programme provides a countrywide roadside assistance service 24 hours a day, every day of the year through Volkswagen of South Africa and its Dealer network.

What does it cover?

If you require roadside assistance as a result of a mechanical or electrical breakdown, a Volkswagen Alert Caddy will be dispatched to assist you. Where a roadside repair cannot be carried out, and the vehicle needs to be towed to the nearest Volkswagen Dealer, Volkswagen Alert will transport you and your passengers to a place of safety.

If you have a breakdown within 100km of your normal place of residence, and the vehicle cannot be repaired at the point of breakdown to render it mobile, you are entitled to courtesy transport to one address within 100km's of the breakdown. Volkswagen Alert will arrange and pay for your vehicle to be collected and repaired at the Dealership closest to where the breakdown occurred.

Where the breakdown has occurred further than 100km from your normal place of residence, Volkswagen Alert will arrange and pay to collect your vehicle and return it to your home after it has been repaired. As the vehicle owner, you have a number of options. You can choose either to have Volkswagen arrange for the safe storage of your vehicle, to pay hotel accommodation or to pay car rental, provided that you qualify as per the terms and conditions of the roadside assistance programme.

Do I qualify?

Volkswagen owners who purchased their vehicles after 1 May 2006 qualify for the new Volkswagen Alert benefits. The cover continues for a period of three years, or 120 000km, whichever occurs first.

Owners of the Touareg, Passat, Eos, Caravelle or Sharan ranges (purchased after 1 May 2006) qualify for Volkswagen's premium Alert Plus programme. The cover continues for a period of five years, or 100 000km, whichever occurs first.

Owners who purchased their vehicles prior to the above mentioned date qualify for benefits stipulated in their Roadside Assistance booklet.
