The Volkswagen Group South Africa Board of Directors consists of five Executive Directors and two non-executive Directors. Of these seven Director positions, two are filled by black directors including one female.
Volkswagen Group South Africa directly employs nearly 6 000 people and 82 percent are from previously disadvantaged groups (PDGs). The representation of PDGs within Volkswagen Group South Africa is vast: 15 percent of management, 42 percent of legislators, senior officials and managers, 67 percent of professionals, 95 percent of technicians and associate professionals are PDGs.
Volkswagen Group South Africa has an extensive Employment Equity Programme that consists of training and development initiatives, succession planning and departmental targets which are strictly enforced. These are aimed at significantly increasing black and female representation at the executive and senior levels within the company.
Administering this Programme is a fully functioning Employment Equity Committee consisting of senior management representatives, trade union representatives and representation by disabled and female employees. Volkswagen Group South Africa is committed to achieving the management and equity targets set out in the BBBEE Codes of Good Practice.
