Racing: Citi Celebrity Challenge
Watch these legends fight it out on the track
To celebrate 25 years of participation in motorsport in South Africa, Volkswagen brought you the greatest showdown in the history of local racing. Combining the cream of South African motorsport talent with the Citi, an automotive legend of 25 years, Volkswagen was proud to present the Citi Celebrity Challenge.
As a special addition to the last two rounds of the Wesbank Super Series, the Citi Celebrity Challenge pitted track and rally champions of yesteryear against each other. The list included the multiple national championship winner for track and rally, Sarel van der Merwe; saloon and touring car champion Terry Moss; track racing ace Chris Aberdein; rally driver extraordinaire Geoff Mortimer; rally and track winner Glyn Hall and winner of the Dakar 2009, Giniel de Villiers.
Added to this exciting mix are the rally drivers and navigators from the current BP Volkswagen team.
In Cape Town these were Enzo Kuun, Pierre Arries and
Guy Hodgson, while Jan Habig, Douglas Judd and
Hergen Fekken took part in the Johannesburg event.
Last but not least, three specially invited journalists at each event showed off their racing skills against this field of formidable competitors.
