Concept T
Technology veers off-roadThe Concept T heralds a new and innovative facet of the automotive experience - the off-road coupe. Uniting the worlds of the SUV and the sports car, Volkswagen has successfully blended a high-capability off-roader with the potency of a luxury sports car.
In terms of styling and technology, the wing doors - which enable easy access - are a highlight of the body. And for a breath of fresh air, the T-bar roof and rear soft top can be removed in seconds to form that stylish cabriolet effect. The Concept T interior design is both sporty and fexible - with trimmings that can be changed using quick-release fastenings, and plenty of space to accommodate a second row of seats as well as luggage.
Propelled by a 177kW V6 engine, this all-wheel drive Tiptronic vehicle accelerates from 0 - 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds, and has an electronically governed top speed of 230 km/h. And for the driver's convenience, all information in the cockpit is projected onto a head-up display. At the touch of a finger, both the driver and passenger can use a palm top computer (PMG) to control functions such as the air conditioner. And outside the vehicle, it can be used as a telephone, Internet, MP3 player and navigation system.
This hybrid off-road coupe has the potential to bring about a whole new set of lifestyle and leisure values to the motoring world.
